Trauma Informed Care 101

"What Happened to You?"-Trauma Informed Care 101 for Children and Families

This training provides foundational knowledge regarding child trauma for individuals across sectors and job titles. After defining key terms, including traumatic stress, ACEs and systemic oppression, we explore how trauma and adversity impacts individual and family's behavior, emotions and way they view the world (e.g., suicidality). Participants begin to identify how service systems, often unknowingly, exacerbate symptoms for trauma survivors, and more importantly, what to do to amend that. We highlight the difference between trauma specific services (e.g., TF-CBT) and trauma informed care (e.g., the ACEs study), and practice viewing behaviors through a trauma informed view point.

Why attend? After this training you will have a better understanding of how trauama and adversity impacts individual and family behavior, including emotions and the way they view the world.
